Hello everyone, welcome to The Jazz Show, number 19, I’m your host Thom Allen.

Before we jump into the music, I wanted to let you know we now have a MySpace web site, and we also have another web address, tpnjazz.com and, finally, subscribe to the podcast via email. My good buddy Ewan Spence, host of TPN Rock (tpnrock.com), has started having guest hosts on his show. And well, since I want to grow up and be like Ewan, I thought I would do the same thing. Look for additional shows coming up hosted by other podcasters.

Let’s start our show off with Uncle Groovy. This is a modern jazz tune with good beats and great sax. Performed by Neal Bowes off the I Do Sax CD.

Neal has performed with several bands and musicians throughout the years and has opened for a number of artists from Hip-Hop to R B AND from GOPSEL to JAZZ.

Next up is See You In Seattle, by the Scottish Guitar Quartet. This is a fast paced modern jazz track. The CD is called Landmarks.

Formed in the spring of 2000, SGQ have toured extensively throughout the UK and Ireland. Inspired by Celtic, Modern, Classical and Jazz genres, fused with World influences to create music that combines these diverse styles producing a powerfully elegant, eclectic sound that is truly distinctive. Each musician has his own individual style, a vital ingredient in any ensemble however, the textures and timbres emanating from both acoustic and the futuristic. Frameworks(tm) guitars produce and electrifying experience for every listener.

Next up is the title track, Just Let It Flow by Travis Vega. I found Travis on myspace.com. He’s working real hard to establish a name. I really like this track because it shows his unique talents.

Exploding on the Jazz scene with 2004 debut CD, “Through The Valley”, Travis quickly became a smash hit with radio and concertgoers alike. 2007 marks a new chapter in Travis’s career, with his latest release “Just Let It Flow”. Already known for his stage presence and flare for entertaining his audiences, Travis mixes it up with this “genre-bending” release, combining elements that seem to bring it to a full Smooth Jazz cycle, from Pop, Dance, RandB and World. Reminiscent of such artist as George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Norman Brown and Peter White.

Next is Round One by Evan Tate, off the Spherical CD.

Since 1979 he has freelanced with various pop, latin and jazz ensembles along many of New York’s most in-demand session musicians playing in bands such as Jaki Byard’s “Apollo Stompers”, Roland Vasquez’ “Urban Ensemble” and many more. ince 1984 he’s been travelling throughout Europe with various Broadway musicals such as “Bubblin’ Brown Sugar” and “A Chorus Line”. He also freelanced on the music scenes in Munich and Vienna and tours throughout Europe with various bands including the “Munich Saxophone Family”, Joe Malinga’s “Southern Africa Force”, Hermann Breuer’s “Blue Bone”, Joris Dudli’s “New York Propjekt” and “Funktett”, Wolfgang Schmid’s “Manaus”, “The New Doug Hammond Trio”, his own projects ‘Evan Tate Unit’ and ‘ET03′, and has made appearances in Austrian and German radio concerts.

“Musical Instincts” is an original collection of different jazz styles pieces, including smooth jazz, swing, blues and modern. All pieces in the album were performed, arranged and recorded by the author.
